Dear Parents and Carers

Schooling as we all know and have been accustomed to has not been the same since March 2020 due to the Coronavirus outbreak. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience, encouragement and support during this difficult time.

I would also like to express my thanks to the Headteacher and all her staff for their commitment of setting home schooling, contacting parents and pupils on a regular basis, keeping school open for key worker children and all the additional work involved in getting the school ready for the re-integration of pupils once the lockdown rules were relaxed.

Pupils of key workers, year 6, EYFS and year 1 are gradually coming back into school on a phased basis, to a different looking school and new rules that they will not have come across before. All of this is required so that we can keep your children safe.

As parents and carers you will have many questions about school starting again in September after the summer holidays. Unfortunately we, like you, don’t have a crystal ball. I can, however, confirm that your Governing Body has already started to discuss September and possible implications but without any firm guidance from the Government, DFE or the Local Authority on what is expected no firm or even speculative answers can be given. As Governors we are currently meeting weekly via Zoom and this issue will continue to be on every agenda in order that we can provide you with information as soon as possible.

The regular relaxation of the social distancing guidance and rules may or may not increase the ‘R’ rate and the Government, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Advisor will no doubt be providing their advice on this crucial element. The Governing Body have therefore discussed whether we will have to meet during the summer holidays in order to refine any plans that have been put into place.

We are therefore, at this time, not able to give any firm indications regarding the opening of school and how it will look after the summer holidays. School will however be closed for the full period of the summer holidays for all pupils including those of keyworkers. However, you can be rest assured that we will inform you as soon as possible of all the information that you need.

Our main priority in all of this will always be to ensure that your children and all staff are kept safe.
