Welcome to Higher Walton CE Primary School!

Whatever your reason for visiting our website today, we hope you will find it informative and gain a flavour of what life is like at our school.

We are a small Church of England school, currently catering for 104 pupils in 5 mixed-age classes housed in a modern building with spacious play areas, field, garden and Forest School areas.

Our school vision is “Life in all its fullness” (John 10 v 10) and this drives us forward in aiming to provide a rich curriculum for our children whilst doing our best to meet their individual needs.

Our happy, family atmosphere is often commented on by visitors and parents.  Our children are enthusiastic, well-behaved and well-motivated; they enjoy taking responsibility and caring for each other.

We aim to create successful learners through inspiring and enjoyable lessons and creative teaching approaches, and enrichment activities such as theme days, visits and visitors, productions and extra-curricular clubs.  We develop children’s self-confidence and responsibility, through nurture and support, giving them responsibility, valuing their ideas and involving them in leadership, and we play an active part in our local community.

Our school ethos and values are based upon the Christian faith, and we have strong links to All Saints Church, Higher Walton.  We are proud to have been recognised as “Excellent” in our most recent Church School inspection (September 2019).  We encourage our children to be reflective, questioning, respectful and tolerant; we are an inclusive school and warmly welcome children of any faith, or none.

To support our families, we offer wrap-around care from 7.30am until 6pm with breakfast club and after school club run on site by our teaching assistants.  We also offer nursery provision for children from the age of 3 years in our EYFS class, with flexible attendance patterns to meet family needs.

Our Governors, leadership team and staff are constantly striving to make our school the best it can be.  In addition to our “Excellent” church school grading, we are proud to hold Lancashire’s Gold Behaviour Mark for outstanding behaviour across school, Quality marks for Early Years and for English and Maths provision, and our 4th successive Ofsted “good” grading.

Our website gives a taster of what goes on in our school, but prospective parents are very welcome to come along and see us in action.  If you would like to visit, or if you require any more information about our school, you can contact us via the “contact us” button at the bottom of our home page, by emailing Mrs Rourke (bursar@walton.lancs.sch.uk) or by telephone 01772 335945.

We intend to share our latest news and calendar of upcoming events here, so we hope our parents and regular visitors will subscribe to the calendar to keep themselves updated.
